The retiree's meeting will be held on Wednesday September 16, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Plumbers Local 12.  The speaker will be Mr. Joseph O'Catharnaigh, President of the O'Catharnaigh Film Construction Co., who is currently involved in the construction of movie sets throughout the Greater Boston area.  The film industry has had an increased presence in Massachusetts.

      Local 12 apprentice Matthew C. White participated in the Regional United Association’s Apprentice Contest.  Matthew placed first in the Plumbers Local #12 Apprenticeship Contest and moved on to the District One Apprenticeship Contest in Connecticut.  Matthew did a great job.  The Training Center would like to send out a Thank You to all those that assisted Matthew with preparing for the contest.

Please check your card.  If you have not paid your April 2009 dues, then it is due no later than Tuesday June 30, 2009.  Any payments later than that will be assessed a $50 reinstatement stamp.

Local 12 Apprentice Graduation was held on Friday April 24, 2009 at Venezia’s in Dorchester, MA.  Special guest speakers included Lt. Governor Timothy Murray, Massachusetts Secretary of Labor  and Workforce Development Suzanne Bump, and Director of Apprentice Training David Wallace.  Fr. Aidan Walsh. Pastor of St. Elizabeth’s in Milton gave our invocation.  Congratulations to all of our graduates for a job well done.  The following is a list of the 2009 graduating class:

CONGRATULATIONS  to Local 12 Training Coordinator, Richard Carter, who was recently appointed as a member of the Massachusetts State Board of Plumbers & Gasfitters by Governor Deval Patrick.  Rick succeeded Ed Cruz who served on the Board for 18 years.
